Intensive TOEFL Test Preparation Course


SEC's Intensive TOEFL course covers the important areas
for the new IBT TOEFL test that students will need to improve
their scores quickly.
Minimum Level: 116
Duration: 8 weeks
Time: 9am – 1pm

Course contents :

  • Sample essay questions with authentic topics.
  • Coverage of all types of reading questions.
  • Structure analysis, correction and practice questions.
  • Simulated, timed listening practice.
  • Authentic practice of integrated skills questions.
  • Extensive pronunciation and speaking practice.
  • Test taking strategies.
  • Weekly mini-tests and monthly full tests.

Weekly Course Outline :

  • Monday : Skills Enrichment and Target Mini-Testing in Specific Skills. Speaking and Writing assignments.
  • Tuesday : Test Review and Skill Development / Computer Lab work.
  • Wednesday : Focus on Speaking and Writing: Skill Work and Concept Development.
  • Thursday : Reading and Lecture / Note-taking.
  • Friday : Oral Presentations / Testing.

SEC Cambridge Preparation Courses (FCE and CAE)

Requirements:

For the FCE:

  • SEC Level 7
  • TOEFL scores
    490 (PBT)
    170 (CBT)
    60 (IBT)

For the CAE:

  • SEC FCE course
  • TOEFL scores
    530 (PBT)
    205 (CBT)0
    75 (IBT)

The First Certificate and Advanced Certificate are the most widely accepted proof of English ability worldwide at an upper intermediate and advanced level.

Main classs: Daily 9am – 12pm
Elective class : Daily 1pm – 3pm


  • 12 week curriculum.
  • Integrates all skill areas.
  • Beneficial to both students that do and do not want to take the exams as it focuses most on improving English through an intensive integrated skills course

Course details :


  • Intensive, 3-hour integrated skills class.
  • Mock exams every four weeks - students will undergo the exact exam-taking procedure.
  • Weekly quizzes - based on actual exam question types.
  • 2-hour elective course options:
    Option 1: Intensive Writing
    Option 2: Intensive Speaking

Cambridge Business English: BEC - Business English Certificates


BEC Business English Certificate – An internationally recognized business qualification - will help you show that you have learned English to an appropriate standard and can use it in a professional context.


BEC Preliminary (level 1)


Main Course Objective

9 am – 12 noon


1 pm – 3 pm

 

Students will be working from the core workbook, focusing on the following skills: Reading , Writing, Listening and Speaking in a real world business context


Test Techniques


  • Reading : multiple choice, gap-filling, form filling [25%]
  • Writing : internal & business communication (30 – 80 words) [25%]
  • Listening: multiple choice, gap-filing, form-filling: texts used are monologues, dialogues, interviews, discussions, telephone conversations, messages [25%]
  • Speaking (length: 12 min): mini-presentations, discussion, interviews
  • (candidates are tested in pairs) [25%]

BEC Vantage (level 2)

Main Course Objective

9 am – 12 noon


1 pm – 3 pm
 

Students will be working from the core workbook, focusing on the following skills: Reading , Writing, Listening and Speaking in a real world business context

  • Reading : multiple choice, gap-filling, form filling [25%]
  • Writing : internal & business communication (40 – 140 words) [25%]
  • Listening: multiple choice, gap-filing, form-filling: texts used are monologues, dialogues, interviews, discussions, telephone conversations, messages [25%]
  • Speaking (14 min): mini-presentations, discussion, interviews (candidates are tested in pairs) [25%]


IELTS Preparation Program


The IELTS exam is an exam that is recognized by academic institutions and employers all over the world including Canada. The IELTS course gives students the preparation that they will need to successfully write the exam.
